BTW nD and others - I just got this email:

'Woodrow appealed its "unacceptable" status from the Texas Education Agency because of special obstacles at the school and because the goals were missed by very little. This week, TEA handed down its decision and Woodrow was successful. The school is now designated as having achieved Adequate Yearly Progress'.

The Sweethearts Drill Team, formed in 1957, still wear similar uniforms and perform traditional routines using the same entrance music, "Pass Me By".

Their name comes from the school motto, "Keep Thy Heart With All Diligence", which is engraved over the auditorium stage (a hallmark of architect Mark Lemmon - he also used this idea at Highland Park Methodist Church on the SMU Campus).

Yeah, we've seen them. Our Panaders used to laugh at the Sweethearts.

*shrug* I was a Panader almost 20 years ago; trust me, none of us care now. We have things like jobs, mortgages, investments, children, etc. to worry about. Nobody cares what their old high school's drill team is up to...but at the time I was in HS, we wiped the floor with the Sweethearts.

Believe me I knew quite a few Panaders, they went to church with me..

They shrunk to almost nothing, it was really kind of pitiful although I must admit at first we took some glee in that fact.

Now they have changed to more of the cheerleader-style and have sequined leotard type outfits. I saw them this year at your homecoming and they were pretty good.

Eh. *shrug* That's what happens when the schools get flooded with illegals.

I haven't been to a homecoming game at Hillcrest since I was required to as a student. Don't plan on going either.

Go to Burger House on Mockingbird on December 19 (Wednesday) between 6 and 9pm and 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the Woodrow Rowing Team when you tell the staff you’ve come to support them. You can dine in or drive through. If you dine in, the Rowing Team members will carry your trays to your table, get refills for you and buss your tables. Plus, you'll be able to tip them!!

Support Woodrow Crew.
