Hello all the helpful Texan people out there! Do you happen to know what it feels like living near the fire department? Noise and sirens? What is Plano's noise ordinance for city emergency vehicles? There is a house with character (not a new construction!!), threes, and a good commute to the High Five....
And thanks to all of you who advised me stay away from gated communities in Richardson off Audelia in my earlier post.

Yes, there's noise, sirens and lights when you live by the fire dept. Eventually, you will get used to it and sleep through it at night.

No.

I will say that late at night, the fire depts don't use the sirens, just the lights, when they are in residential areas.

The plus side to living near a fire station is your home insurance is a little lower.

^ - this person is right. It's not different from living near an airport, rail line or other noise creating location. You'll probably get used to it.

Plano has 13 Fire Stations, and it really depends on which station you're buying near. Some stations are very busy, some are only there for geographic coverage and can have only one or two calls a day. Do you know which station/location you're specifically looking at?

Thanks all of you guys! I suspected that....funny and true about the insuranse.
I have a 2yo child, so even if that particular station is not "booked"....it was station #12
I did live near a subdivision with a private aero club. Well, one of the aficionados landed through the roof a sports club. Everybody survived. But yeah, noisy.
