Hi, we are a family of four and currently planning our move to Texas. We've decided on Plano, as I hear many good things about the schools there. We currently live in South Florida and planning to move, as soon as possible. Our plan was to rent first, to get to know the areas before buying a home. I am looking into rentals and I'm absolutely clueless as to where to look. I am looking for a safe, family oriented neighborhood with a good elementary school around $1200 for a 2/2.

Can you tell me about the good and not so good neighborhoods in Plano for renters? I could really use the help!

TIA

Its all good but any community feeding to Renner Middle school would offer nice n safe area, feed to a good elementary, family oriented enviornment, access to highways and amenities.

I'm not sure, but is it realistic to find a decent 2/2 for $1200? It doesn't have to be the fanciest neighborhood, since we will be buying after a year, just safe. The idea that I get, is that most people own a home over there.

My wife and I are doing the same thing. We are moving to Plano from LA and renting for a year and then buying a home. Actually, the leasing agent talked us in to a 15 month lease to get a lower rate. We are going to pay $793 for a 1/1 (685 sq ft) at Steeplechase, just north of Alma & Legacy. $1200 sounds like more than enough for a 2/2. My guess is you can get a decent 2/2 for $900-$1000, but of course it depends on your own tastes and need for space. As far as safety, I'm not sure. Compared to the neighborhood we are moving from (North Hollywood) all of Plano looks plenty safe to me, but I could be wrong. Good luck.

You should look @ apartments on Ohio Dr. A 2/2 apt would range anywhere from 1200-1500$ depending on the community and how long the lease is. Plano is safe and family friendly.

All the best with your move.

Hi, are your kids of school age? And if so, do you plan to uproot them after a year of renting when you buy a place, or are you planning to rent in the district that they will attend after you buy? Plano is rather large, which is why I ask.

We have a six year old in first grade. I would prefer to keep him in the same school as possible

My husband and I just moved out here from S. Cal 6 months ago and live in a 2/2 for $925 with no garage. I would say stay west of the 75 if at all possible! 1200 for a 2/2 is more than enough! Good luck!
