Currently in Uptown but looking to downsize to save on rent. Size of the apartment isn't that big of a deal. I work from home, so I only need room for a bed and a desk. I'd like to be able to walk to McKinney Ave, Katy Trail, West Village, and Klyde Warren Park.

If I can save a significant amount of money by only being a short cab ride away, I'd consider living slightly further out.

For instance, I saw these recommended on here which are still within walking distance and significantly cheaper. Not quite sure about how safe they are, but something like that I might consider.
If a roommate makes more sense, I might consider that too, I just want to see what my studio options are for now. Thanks!

Great.. thanks. The area looks pretty good and it's pretty much right in Uptown it just happens to be on the other side of 75 which, apparently, makes all the difference as far as price goes.

Is your friend in an apartment complex in the area? If so, do you mind telling me what complex if it might meet my needs.

I would check out the smaller complexes that dot the area. They don't advertise online or anywhere else so the best thing to do is walk around and look for vacancies, then make the call. I'm planning to do this after my lease expires. I live in one of the big, generic complexes and I really don't like it.

Yeah.. I'm in one of the high rises at the moment. It's nice and love it, just not worth the price, IMO. I was hoping to meet a bunch of people in my building, and, while there are a lot of young professionals my age, every just kinda keeps to themselves. I used the pool a couple times and I use the gym frequently, but with the amount I'd save per month getting a cheaper place, I could get a proper gym membership and still be saving money.

I have a one bedroom, and it's about 917sq ft. Again, it's nice, but I hardly use all the space I have. I have a living room area which I barely use. I'd rather downsize to something smaller so I have more money for going out and a smaller place would kinda force me out of my place more.
