Hello All!

I live in west Texas, but work for a Dallas-based company at Market Center - I'm in Dallas at least once a month for work and/or fun and am looking into the possibility of renting an apartment.

Looking for a studio or 1 bedroom to lease beginning in January. Although I know my way around Dallas fairly well, I'm totally clueless whenever it comes to neighborhoods.

I'm looking to spend under $1,000/month on rent IN DALLAS - I do not want to be commuting from the city to my apartment. Also, I of course want a safe area. Any help you all can provide is appreciated!

May I ask though why you'd rather rent an apartment than stay in a hotel if you only come here for travel?

There are some great buildings in the Design District (75207) off Market Center, which would be close to your company, and close to many Dallas hot spots.

Of course, Oak Lawn (75219), Uptown (75204, 75202, 75219), and Downtown (75201) are all close as well.

Good luck

I'm looking for an apartment because, annually, I will actually save money by renting an apartment as opposed to paying for hotel rooms. I am an independent contractor for the company I work for, which means that I am not reimbursed for any travel/business expenses - an apartment just makes more sense for me.

A quick look at this apartment map shows that there are plenty of options that are $1000 and under in Dallas proper.

I would try to find something cheap in uptown or east dallas. Possibly even Oak Lawn, would be closer to Market Center. I used to live in an apartment by Lower Greenville that I paid 750 for (2br).

Yep, paying for it with pre-tax dollars as a business expense. Makes perfect sense.
