I'm gonna miss Menard's up here. I go there so often, they know me by name. My daughter had to buy something there, and the cashier noted the last name and asked her if she was my daughter (which scandalized her).

Menard's doesn't have as much on the "decorator" side as Lowe's, but it has a lot more basic construction materials, and it's always cheaper than Lowe's. It also has much more than Home Depot. And they even have "man" food and "man" clothes and some hunting and fishing gear...heck, a guy need not shop anywhere else.

Does Dallas have a regional equivalent beyond Lowe's and Home Depot?

If you are looking for hunting, fishing and other "man" stuff: try Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops.
Cabelas is in Allen near Stacey Road and US 75. There is a Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine near Grapevine
Mills mall.

If you want a smaller more personalized shopping experience than a HD/Lowe's I would try Elliott's Hardware
(three locations).

If you want to shop for supplies like sinks/front doors/flooring/counters etc. try Seconds and Surplus (3
locations).

I am sure there are lumber yards in Dallas but I am not familiar with them. Hope that helps!
