Hello everyone !

Regarding two children: one parent from Mexico, one from USA, children were raised in Mexico and they speak Spanish as natives, and English (10 being perfect) level being a 6, that will be entering Middle school (and then HS, obviously) in Coppell, how is the diversity and "acceptance" of new kids, both at school and at the neighborhood, play-with-other-kids level.

They are enrolled currently in private school in Monterrey and kicking butt on school work and exams, etc.

Good kids just wanted to ask what the climate was like inside the Coppell schools. Thank You

Coppell is a very solid district academically across the board. Coppell High, New Tech High, and the 3 middle schools range from 12-14% Hispanic. Overall, the district is about half white and half non-white, with roughly a third of the students of Asian descent, and around 8% black or biracial. As far as diversity goes, it's probably one of the most diverse districts in the Metroplex.

I don't know how accepting they are of new students, but Coppell doesn't have a particularly cliquey reputation so I don't think it would be too bad.

The schools are big, though, around 250-300 students per grade in middle school and 800 or so per grade in high school. It might be a bit of a shock jumping to that from a regio private school, and you might want to take a look at some of the private schools in the area--Greenhill School in Addison is particularly diverse.

I don't think your kids will have any problems, and their English will improve rapidly once they get here.
