It seems that a move to North Carrollton looks to be a smart move for my family in the near future. It seems that Hebron HS in Lewisville ISD seems to be slightly more desirable than Creekview or Smith in CFB ISD, but my gut tells me that can mostly be accounted for in the difference between student body demographics. Since all three schools/tracts have a substantial portion of middle to upper middle class families, I'm inclined to feel comfortable with any of the three. Does anyone in the Dallas forum has any insights on the public school options available north of George Bush and between I-35 and Dallas North Tollway?

Your hypothesis is backed up by SAT scores. Look at the white scores (typically, the most affluent & engaged demographic); all 3 schools are within 8 points of one another and all rank in the top 19-26 high schools in the metroplex. Here are SAT scores broken out by demographics; as you can see, each school has a demographic that is lagging behind significantly. I would guess that the overall scores (and therefore school rank/ reputation) are heavily impacted by these demographics' % of student body.

White students:
Hebron- 1102 (ranks 22nd)
Creekview- 1096 (ranks 26th)
Smith- 1104 (ranks 19th)

Hispanic students
Hebron - 1029 (ranks 20th in metroplex)
Creekview - 976 (ranks 43rd)
Smith- 935 (ranks 68th)

Black students:
Hebron-928 (ranks 23rd)
Creekview- 897 (ranks 39th)
Smith- 913 (ranks 28th)

Asian students:
Hebron - 1113 (ranks 23rd)
Creekview- 1035 (ranks 57th)
Smith - 1043 (ranks 49th)

Thanks TC80, those are interesting data points. Can you point me towards their source? It's interesting to see Smith ahead of Creekview among all populations except Hispanic.

Hebron is more affluent and upper middle class, Creekview more middle class, and Newman Smith a mix of middle class and working class. However, your kids will get a broadly similar education at all three schools.

I'd pick Hebron if I lived on the eastern side of its attendance zone near West Plano. Castle Hills is nice enough, though pretty much the definition of a bland suburban community.
