Hello:

I will be relocating to the Dallas area by the first of the year. I'm looking for job leads in Human Resources at the Graduate Level, any leads?

Also, I'll be looking for Temporary housing until I know exactly where I'll be settling. I've heard Frisco, Plano and McKinney are nice. I am African American, divorced, mid- thirties. While I like the middle class, I'm looking for a little diversity as well. Insight appreciated.

Lastly,

I will be looking for a place to worship. Baptist, not really big. I'm very active, so somewhere friendly with nice service and good teaching.

Thanks for any assistance you can offier.

Headed to Dallas

I'd be leary of settling in a suburb too far out like McKinney or Frisco not knowing where you will be working. If you are wanting to find a place to live first and then a job then find a place more centrally located. Even Addison, Richardson or North Dallas would be a better spot for the "job hunt" and then you can feel your way around for awhile and find what your really wanting in a place to live. You don't want to get a place to live in McKinney and find a job in Valley Ranch or Downtown Dallas - .

As for the diversity part - anywhere in Dallas will be fine for that.

Church - are you wanting a predomianently AA church or does it matter? There are several VERY good ones around either way.

There is one real close to me in the Firewheel area of Garland - North Garland Baptist Church. Not a "mega-church" but it is a very nice sized church - they recently added on. There is always something going on there. They sponser several concerts in the area in conjunction w/ other churches.

If you want to travel to the south side of Dallas there is The Potters House. I just don't personally believe some of the things T.D. Jakes teaches.

There is another large church in the north Dallas area some good friends of mine attended but the name escapes me. I know someone else that goes there that is VERY involved so I can get the name. It is on Spring Valley just east of 75-Central Expwy in the Richardson area.

Hamilton Park Baptist Church in Richardson is another. The church has been around for DECADES!!! The church and that part of Richardson are a deep part of Dallas and Richardson history especially for African-Americans.

Hope this helps

Most companies here list their openings on Monster.com and Dice.com job boards, so that would be a good place to start. Also, here's a list of the major companies in the Dallas metroplex that you can apply directly to.

Two others I don't see on this list are Verizon and Citigroup that have a major presence in the Las Colinas area of Irving. Just don't be discouraged if nothing develops between now through the first of the year as it is always slow through the holidays, new budgets being put into place, etc.

Also, what type of temporary housing are you looking for? Apartments, extended stay hotels, room shares, etc.? And, in what areas? And, what amount?

Preferrably apartments in the $750 to $950 monthly amount. I'll be looking at Richardson, Addison and North Dallas.

Thanks

Why not Uptown, Downtown or Knox-Henderson? You could get something pretty cool for the upper end of that amount. Plus, you'd be in the middle of the city. Where there is always something going on.

Hello thanks for replying. I believe you posted that you had 4 kids (if not sorry) I have 4 and was wondering what you thought of the school district? I have a 5th grader and 1st grader and kinder and one at home so the schooling is really important to me. Now that you are living there would you have chosen any other areas?

2nd that. They are very diverse and a very welcoming church. They do a lot in the community. When I worked for a charity they helped us out and even sponsored a rally to raise awareness in the community. Oh and they hosted a summer teen program for us as well.
