Am I crazy, or does it seem like crime around here keeps getting worse and worse?

Just yesterday a mother of 3 was brutally beaten up in a park, during daylight hours no less for her Ipod!

Then of course there was the teacher who was shot, I believe in the parking lot of the Tom Thumb and left for dead.

According to the news there is somewhat of an epidemic of men attacking women with purses around here.

There are more cases, I just can't remember them right now but has anybody noticed that it is becoming more and more dangerous for people, especially women to be out and about? It has come to the point that I don't even like for my girlfriend to be out at night by herself anymore. Used to be these kinds of problems were confined to certain parts of Dallas, South Dallas particularly.

Now the crime is up in North Dallas and the suburbs. It just seems like there has been a large increase of these kinds of things around here.

What is going on?

You are correct... it is worse! And, made even more so during the holiday season, when, as I call it, all the "crazies" seem to come out of the woodwork! They're looking for money... in any way they can get it... and they're trolling the places where they're most likely to find it... and women and their purses are seen as easy prey.

As a woman, I limit where I go and what I do alone... especially at night... just is not safe most places by yourself anymore. You are right to be concerned.

This time of year is the worst for purse snatchers, car breakins, etc. BE VIGILANT and KNOW YOUR SURROUNDINGS!!!!!!!!!!! If your coming out of the store and a car is parked by you w/ someone in it - TURN AROUND AND GO BACK IN!

I can't say if it is getting worse, but stories seem more on the news this time of year and this time of year tends to bring out more people because generally people are thinking of just rushing to and fro and NOT PAYING ATTENTION. This could be in any area. My husband thinks I'm super paranoid, but I've been robbed before when we were in California and trust me they take FAR more than items. Not going through it again or worse.

Men snatching purses??? Hmm I bet if the police searched the Rose Room I bet they'd find em.

I think its probably because alot of Fathers are out of work and are turning to crime to give their families a good Christmas. It doesn't excuse it though! In fact they are just making matters worse if they happen to get caught.

I went to the Super Wal-Mart on Montfort and Arapaho and when I left it was dark. I was pretty nervous walking through the parking lot; what an easy target I'd have made!

Walking sticks need to make a comeback - the ones with the switchblade on the end like in "Gilda".

I'm just waiting for the day when they attack a woman who has a handgun around her ankle or in her waistband. IMO you have to be pretty stupid to rob someone in Texas.
