What did that huge building where the new Arboretum Village development is going used to be? You know, at the intersection where Gaston, Garland and Grand all come together in E. Dallas by White Rock Lake. We've passed by it many times, wondering what could have been there that was so large.

It was a Tejano night club called Far West.

The opposite side from Far West was the White Rock YMCA. In between was a Regio. And then there was some empty spaces as well that I think the YMCA never got around to remodeling.

Ah, you're asking for the way back...DCAD says it was built in 1969, I'll ask some old timers if they remember. I believe it's was Far West for over 20 years.

Thanks! Looks to me like it could have been something like a Zayre or Woolco back in the day.

Wasn't that Cowboys before it was Far West? And I swear it was something else between - different Tejano bar.

I think it was Cowboy's for a while. I want to say it was built as a department store. Maybe a Cook's?

It was also a Buddie's/Winn-Dixie grocery store and then was used as office for Texas Instruments. "OLD TIMER" says...
