I looked at the pics again, and the island cooktop with no vent a hood would be a deal-breaker for me.
Looks like a downdraft gas cooktop to me. I like vent hoods overhead better personally from an aesthetic point, but it should be fine.

One other thing that would very detrimental to the house to me would be lights. Try driving past the place after dark.

Are there lights on in the parking lot or around the pool all evening? How often is the pool used at night when lights might be needed to be on ? Not only would the pool increase noise and traffic, both foot and cars, but also lights illuminating your property.

Summer time during the day it would be annoying to live next too. But the rest of the time I would imagine it would be much quieter then any other type of neighbor.

If there is no life guard on duty, then it is not the type of pool that would have swim meets. So generally the traffic will be light. Talk with the neighbors around the pool. If the is a sub-division style pool it very likely closes early in the evening. They will also likely to have some type of community events there one or twice during the summer.

The neighbors will be able to telling you the best. Everyone else will just be guessing.

That is not true at all. We were looking at a house directly across from the community center. No lifeguard and yes, they were going to hold practices for the swim team. My son was on a swim team. No life guard for practices. I am not sure about the meets. Parking lot was PACKED during practices. If it is the size pool that can accommodate meets, they would just bring in a temporary life guard.

This is a good deal, probably only way to get a decent house in an established neighborhood with good schools, at this price. You can always update it. Just don't assume that you'll make a fortune selling it but a good place to call home and pass on the savings to next buyer. You are sure to make more if you neutralize some finishes.

Our neighborhood pool does not have a swim team, but i used to live next to a subdivision that had one. Parking was horrendous when they had meets. For BLOCKS around. And the noise.....pa system and starter pistols.

Well, a couple of things.

1. Check and see if the pool is even BIG enough to host meets. A lot of these smaller neighborhood pools are too small for meets.

2. If they DO have meets, you're talking summer swim league, which is usually between 5-8 meets -- 1 a week during the summer. Half of those are away. So, basically, 3-4 evenings a year. That wouldn't be enough to stop me.

3. If half of the homes already have pools, then you're probably talking about a pretty small membership. Ask about the membership, swim team, etc.

4. If you have kids and they are old enough, you'll probably love having it right next door -- all the convenience, none of the maintenance.

I'd certainly hope that the price of the home reflects it's location.

The one I'm talking about doesn't have a lifeguard either but the teams bring their own.

More than noise from the pool, you will hear traffic noise from Southlake and Davis Boulevards.
Also, being across from the High School you will feel its presence, mostly with cars coming in an out of their parking lot when you are driving in front of it.
If the house does not have its own pool, it could also deter some buyers.
Good luck with your decision!
