So, I received a citation from a Dallas Sheriff for going 50 in a 45 while I was exiting off of 75N onto North Central Expressway. The ticket says I have to pay it within 16 days. It gives 3 options, mail in your payment, pay online, or pay over the phone. I spent a couple of days trying to pay it online, but it always said "citation not found", so I figured I'd try calling in to pay. I called the number at the top for the JP Office, and managed to get out "I received a citation from an officer...", and the lady just cut me off there and explained that they don't receive them until about 3 weeks after the date of issue, so I can't pay it over the phone or online until they receive it. So I'd likely be over my "16 days" cutoff for those options. She said I could either wait and hope they got it before the 16 days so that I could pay online or by phone, or pay it by mail, but if I choose to pay it by mail, I'd have to include with the payment an additional $110.10 for court costs and administration fees.

So my options are to either 1) pay it late and receive and increased fine, or 100 lashings, or whatever the penalty is for that or 2) pay an extra $110.10 to mail it in.

Maybe I'll just try calling back later to speak with someone else, she seemed to hate everything about being on the phone, so maybe her info wasn't totally accurate. Does that seem odd to anyone else? Has anyone else ran into that issue?

Thanks!

A few years ago a DPS trooper ticketed me on The Tollway. About ten weeks later he bothered to turn the thing in. A judge dismissed the ticket on GP.

Keep calling. You will not be held responsible for the payment being late due to the officer being a jerk.

Private sector employees get fired for being lazy/slow/disorganized/ passive aggressive govt employees get promoted.

Huh? Spring Creek is in Collin County. If you're trying to be funny, I don't get it.
