Fort Worth is growing faster than Dallas simply for the fact that Ft. Worth keeps annexing more land and Dallas is not. Most of Dallas, growth has spilled into the northern suburbs

As long as the Dallas area is receiving growth of any kind, it is benificial not only to the city but the entire region as a whole.
Ft Worth will NEVER surpass Dallas, so you can stop worrying about that now!!

According to the Census Data Dallas County has not increased very much in population in comparison with Denton and Collin counties. The density of Dallas County is around 2,500 people per sq mile. I traveled through the north suburbs of Dallas a few months ago and could not believe the amount of growth in that area.

And to think that Denton and Collin County still have plenty of space too

Acntx - that's the 2000 census. DART had just opened the rail lines and now look at all the growth since! Even more new rail lines will start opening in just over a year.

Just keep saying Fort Worth will NEVER surpass Dallas....
That's the same thing Chicago said about L.A.... the same thing San Francisco said about San Jose... and the same thing most rust belt cities said about sun belt and west cost cities.

And statistically Fort Worth has had less crime than Dallas the past few years, but it has been a horrible news week for the city. The place where that kid opened the door and got shot... I lived on that same street 10 years ago. No matter where you live there WILL be crime.

Chicago and L.A. are both dynamic cosmopolitan cities, and it would be expected of the two to compete for business, population and world recognition. Dallas and Fort Worth are not comparable in those regards.

And regarding San Fran and San Jose, those are somewhat comparable to DFW. San Jose is a surburb of world reknown San Francisco that exploded in population.... and even after San Jose overtook San Fran in population who noticed or cared? It's just a huge rambling, sprawling surburb. San Francisco is still by far the more dominant, respected and well-known city. If FW does pass Dallas in population, it will simply be the San Jose of Texas, and who cares?
