For a couple in mid 20s and a 2yr old child. Less than $900. Nice walkable areas. Would that be possible to find with my budget?

Where are your jobs located?

The area that most people consider "North Dallas" is not at all walkable. North Dallas is usually considered the area between Northwest Highway and 635, which is really spread out. Walkable areas would be Uptown and Knox Henderson (probably outside your budget) or parts of East Dallas (which could be done in your budget, but it's not considered "North Dallas."

Why is walkable important to you? Will you be relying on public transportation, or do you just want the convenience of walking to a restaurant now and then?

Based on the use of "north Dallas" on this forum, it's very likely OP means north OF Dallas - aka, Collin County.

op, can you clarify?

Also, there are pockets of north Dallas itself that are definitely Walkable (equally as Walkable as Uptown/ Knox-Henderson/ East Dallas) - if you can live in the Preston/Royal or Preston/Forest quadrants, there are multiple grocery stores, drug stores, schools, churches/ temples, dozens of restaurants & shops, Starbucks, dry cleaners, doctors, etc all within a 1/2 mile. Our house has a walk score in the 70's.
