Hi, I wrote a few weeks back. My husband and I, along with our two kids (4&6) have finally narrowed it down to two places! We are thinking to move to either: Coppell or to Las colinas.
Which one do you suggest? We will be working in Irving. Or kids will be entering second grade and kindergarten. We really want to be in the Coppell school district. But as far as family living, which place is better?
We want to rent (no more than 2k/mo) first then buy a home after about a year or so. We just want family friendly. We are late twenties. Very active family. And our kids our loud is there a specific scchool we should stay away from. Anything we should know about either place would be very helpful!!

Nervous. We don't know anyone.. But excited to be joining texas!

It's hard to find housing in Coppell ISD. Have you tried ?

Failure to find a place may answer your question. Don't forget part of Valley Ranch is in Coppell ISD.

I'm a longtime north-Irving resident, and, honestly, I'd try to get into Coppell. I've always found Las Colinas to be wildly overpriced compared to what you get for that dollar.

Coppell can be higher priced than Valley Ranch and much of LC.

Personally, I think Coppell is probably about the best location out there for family living if you're working in Irving. The only thing better might be Southlake, but that's going to cost more and involve a slightly longer drive. When you're ready to buy, I'd recommend focusing your search there.

For renting, you're probably going to be extremely hard-pressed to find something in Coppell. There are many more rentals in Valley Ranch (adjacent to Coppell, but technically considered Irving) and Las Colinas (also considered Irving) that will fit your budget. Honestly, even if you are leaning toward Coppell, I'd rent in Valley Ranch, just to see how you like the area. Las Colinas apartments seem to skew toward the younger professionals and you'll likely find more families living in Valley Ranch.

Robmab: thanks for your insight! Your comments are very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Even though my husband and I are both young professionals, we do have children now so that changes things
We really wanted to be in the Coppell school district but if finding housing in Coppell will be nearly impossible, and we are better off living in valley ranch, we will need to consider that and pass on Coppell isd.
Thanks again for the info!

As Rakin said above part of valley ranch is Coppell ISD.

Funny how everyone wants Coppell because of schools and location.
It's a small city of about 35k and not had a home under $550k built in 15 years.

All those people (75k) in Flower Mound would not be living there if they could have found a home in Coppell.
I've literally had a hundred clients start their search in Coppell then end up elsewhere due to lack of housing (mostly Flower Mound.)

Rent in either place (Valley Ranch (ideally in the Coppell ISD portion) or Coppell) that you can find a rental (We had luck with working with a realtor--we heard about a few rentals before they were listed) and be ready to pounce on a home in Coppell when one comes up. I don't think it is impossible...you just will have to be ready and prepared to wait awhile. So consider your lease...
