Might want to check Canyon Creek in Richardson too; the housing stock there is older (mainly late 60s/70s) but it checks your other boxes. The parts of it in Collin County are zoned to Plano schools; in Dallas County, Richardson schools. Zip code is 75080.

From your posts, it seems that you've moved several times during last few years. Try renting out for a while to see if you really like it enough to make an investment.

With kids still in elementary school, I'd recommend looking at homes zoned for Brinker, Barksdale or Centennial Elementary in west Plano since they are located near the Dallas North Tollway, which makes the commute into Dallas a little easier. All of those elementary schools are excellent, and follow the Renner MS, Shepton HS, Plano West HS tract. Check homes in 75093 and 75024 (zoned for PISD, not Lewisville)

Your budget is a good fit for Brinker or Barksdale based on your criteria. Your budget has you on the entry level/low end of the price range for homes in the Centennial zone, but if you're willing to compromise with a 4BR instead of a 5BR, you can find more options.

Are there houses under $1M with 1/2 acre properties in Plano? If so, I haven't seen any. 1/3 acre seems like the max in my opinion.

Land is very expensive in Plano, specially in popular zip codes. I found only one house over a .5+ lot priced under $500k, hidden under hideous wallpaper. This house is begging for some tasteful TLC but it has potential.

2900 Masters Circle is just under a million and has .66 acres of land. It's in Willow Bend Lakes.
.
Also 2304 crown knoll in the same neighborhood is $850000 and just over half acre lot.

5316 Mariners Drive is asking over a million but might be bought under the mark and has .59 acres.

They are rare and tend to be older property

So it sounds like the target zips would be homes in 75093 and 75024.

These are the zip codes my wife and I are focusing upon. This is a great location and Plano West schools are what we were looking for.
