Hi,

I am moving to Dallas in a month and am confused whether to live in Irving or Dallas downtown? I might have to travel frequently which makes Irving a better choice but for the time I am in Dallas, I would like to live near the more active areas. Would anyone please share their thoughts on how is Irving as compared to Dallas for activity, hanging out with friends, clubbing etc over the weekends?

Thank you,

Definitely Dallas, Irving for me is more of a work environment. Dallas is a lot of fun and there is always something to do!!!

You're comparing a suburb to a city.

Irving is basically an extension of Dallas because they are so close to each other & there is no break in development dividing them other than a city limits sign letting you know when you're in one & out the other.

Dallas. If you live in downtown, you are likely 15-30 minutes from the Airport depending on the time of day you're going.

The new DART line will open at the airport in the new few months. That should be a boom for Downtown (and others) folks.

Thank you,
Dallas, Dallas, Dallas. 100%, all day long. You can always take a taxi to the airport, drive there, have a friend drop you off, or someday take the DART rail there. Don't live in Irving just to be close to the airport.

Yes, this!!! Irving is a working class suburb with a more upscale "enclave" called Las Colinas. Las Colinas is basically a bedroom community and office park. No excitement, no walkabity, nothing for a fun young professional. Pick any one of the great in-town neighborhoods in Dallas instead.

As stated above, Dallas, Dallas, Dallas...

If you want to set yourself up for an easy ride to the airport, look in areas of Dallas on the west side, such as:

* Design District (75207)
* North Oak Cliff (75208)
* Oak Lawn (75219)

With the DART line opening at DFW, anywhere downtown near a DART station will provide a $5, 30 minute trip to the airport.

Isn't it more than a 30 minute trip? From Akard to Beltline it is currently 44 minutes.
