Hi, We are planning to move to Dallas area from MN. Please help in identifying exemplary schools. Any help in identifying new construction homes/builders in those school districts will be very much appreciated also. Job is in Plano. We will be in Dallas next week to drive around.

It depends on how good the schools are.

Thats not really an answer. If you want THE best public school district and new construction, you're going to need 1.5+.

That is good insight. We could go up to 500K - 600K. Also, is there a good site to look up school rankings?

Exemplary schools are generally considered to be: Plano West Sr. High School, Highland Park High School, Coppell High School & Carroll Sr. High in Southlake.

That should point you in the right direction for primary schools, as you can research ones that feed to the secondary schools listed above.

HPISD is really out of your price point for a family home, especially new construction. I would focus on "newer" (not brand new) construction in West Plano or Coppell due to the job being in Plano.

A lot of people also really like Prosper & Lovejoy ISD (towns of Fairview, TX & Lucas, TX), but the schools are generally not as highly regarded by those on this board. Still worth considering if you find a house you like.

You can check out Frisco if you are set on new construction. Its close to Plano and the schools are good. If you are open to existing homes, then you can look for homes in 75093.

The best schools are in established areas which is generally not where new homes are being built. Coppell, Southlake, the Park Cities (Highland Park ISD), Plano, and Flower Mound are widely regarded as the top academic districts.

Of those, Plano, Flower Mound, and the Park Cities are within a 30 minute commute of Plano. Coppell might be depending on where in Plano you're commuting. New construction in the Park Cities is typically $1.5M+; it will be a custom build on a tear-down lot. In Plano, there are a few new homes being built near Legacy & Midway ($1.0M & up) and near Harrington school in central Plano ($300-400k, I think?). Those are both brand new communities being built. The new construction in Flower Mound may be more than a 30 minute commute and I'm not sure of the prices ($400k??)
