Hello. My wife and I have been doing some serious researching the past few months about a move to the Dallas area from Connecticut. We have come up with a few questions that can be answered easily from someone who actually lives in the Dallas Fort Worth area. These questions are mostly targeted for the northern Dallas suburbs though:

1. How would you rate your health care? Are you content with your insurance coverage, doctors, hospitals, etc.?

2. I have heard a lot about fracking in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Is this causing health and safety concerns?

3. With so many people moving to the Dallas Fort Worth area, how is that affecting the region's resources? I would imagine water shortages becoming an issue eventually, especially with the occasional summer droughts.

Thanks for your help.

1. An election earlier in the month reveals 93% of TX Republican primary voters want Obamacare repealed.

2. None that have made the forum zeitgeist.

3. Centuries of foresight by the regional water authorities produce construction of new reservoirs throughout North Texas that serve the metropolitan area.

1. Happy.

2. Fracking is mostly in Ft. Worth and westward. Not a problem in Dallas and its suburbs.

3. The North Texas Municipal Water District (which covers almost 50 cities in the Dallas suburbs) has been on Stage 3 Water Restrictions ~ only twice monthly outdoor watering ~ for quite awhile. Yes, the drought is being felt.

1. I have had no issues with my healthcare what so ever. I don't expect changes due to ACA.

2. I have never heard of anyone mention fracking as a issue in the 51 years I have lived in the area.

3. The state has done a great job in building reservoirs to meet DFW water needs. Most of our lakes are low now
but we still have water to do the things we need to do.

As far as O&G / Fraccing activities are concerned, seems most of the activity is to the West & Northwest of Dallas proper on the Barnett Shale play. There have been some communities raise concerns about this. Flower Mound, Lewisville seem to come to mind.

Here's a link to some info:

1.I have never had any problems with medical needs in this area. We have wonderful hospitals and there are some of the best doctors in the world here.
2.The problems with fracking are not causing us problems up around north Dallas. More toward the Fort Worth side.
3.Yes, we do have water restrictions but I don't feel that will be a problem in the years to come as, as mentioned above, there was good foresight.

Good luck with your move. If you have any questions about the North Dallas area, please feel free to contact me-

All of the major hospital systems are taking all of the major insurance plans. Some of the for-profit companies like Texas Oncology are not accepting ACA plans.

But as far as quality and availability of doctors, we are in a very solid area for that.

DFW has some of the best hospitals in the US, surpassed only by the medical complex in Houston.

As to fracking, you are going to have some "everything negative is caused by fracking" groups and pseudo-scientists out there, but 99% is eco-hype.

Water restrictions are tough this year - 3rd year of a drought. Just means you won't be watering the lawn every day.

We are allowed to water only every other week in Richardson. That is supposed to be the case in all areas served by our water district (including Plano, I think all of Garland, and some other areas north/northeast of here).

In Dallas proper we can water twice a week but it is on certain days and time by your address.
