On a side note, both Honda & Nissan have had operations in Texas for awhile now in Las Colinas.

Great rail infrastructure and interstate access to both coasts. Major universities and hospital care. Major sports teams.

I think Austin is saturated and choking to death, and don't know how much more Austin can "grow". Georgetown is already North Austin basically.

Again, things all of us Texans already knew, but I think finally the rest of the world is catching on. This may be good or bad, depending on your perspective of course...

Just my two cents...
Congrats to Colin County. (& from my point of view, it's good for the whole state)

Not sure why Austin is being attacked in a thread that should celebrate Texas in general & N. Dallas in particular?

I bet this move to Plano drove the purchase of the naming rights for Toyota Stadium (FC Dallas) in Frisco last year.

I doubt it the naming rights were set in sept 2013. I doubt the Toyota move to plano was decided until a month or two ago

Maybe you're right, but do you really think that such a large decision was only "decided" a month or two ago? I would think that Toyota has been working towards this for a long period of time. Anyway, it is very good news for the region, although I can't help but feel bad for the current employees that won't be making the move.

Nobody is attacking Austin, a great town.

I am pretty certain about the timing, no one can keep a secret that long. A move of this magnitude would require board approval. The land or mega lease options were in place before the board approval was sought. Once you decide where to move 4000 jobs you best announce it publicly it's the human thing to do as rumors start to run

I thought the same thing.

But for all my right winger family and friends, the first thing out of their negative mouths
Was, " well that's all we need is those damn left coast liberals ****ting on Texas"

Can't please em'
Damn if you do
Damn if you don't.

This is a great move for our area.

I agree Plano, Frisco will see meaningful housing impacts but think Prosper and Lovejoy schools areas might as well. The impact of the Nebraska Furniture Outlet and businesses that land around them along with Toyota will mean 121 area is going to develop significantly and fairly quickly.
Most of those jobs will already be spoken for, though. It isn't as if Toyota is going to hire 5,000 people in DFW to fill those jobs. I'd imagine that a majority of the people who already have those jobs will follow them here.
