I put down a deposit but have not signed the lease and it looks like I will not have the need for the new apartment. I dont care about the deposit I just want to know if they can come after me for anything else?

We signed a lease before looking at the actual unit. The day we got the keys we hated it. It was small and not what was described to us in the floor plans, etc. They told us we had a 24 hour grace period to get out of the lease with no issue. We did just that and have had no issues. I believe we got our full deposit also. So I don't see any reason they'd come after you, especially since you have yet to sign anything legally binding.

You will only lose your deposit if you did not sign a lease.

Most complexes owned by big companies do have some clause about 30 day or 10 day guarantee. So you should be able to back out, but will likely lose the deposit. If you didn't sign anything, you should be able to get the deposit back. If you did not sign a lease, you are not in a lease.
