Our current school district required 200 volunteer hours by the senior year. Does Plano schools have any requisite of this sort?

Will the service hours (out of Texas) already completed be of any benefit?

Thanks in advance.

200 volunteer hours? Is it for NHS or IB? Which district?

HPHS is/was 50 hours required for graduation but students easily get 200 or more when you add in NHS, Boy and Girl scouts, school clubs, church involvement, mission trips etc.

We are coming from out of State. Anyone know if this is a requirement in Plano schools?

No, Plano ISD does not have that requirement. Various organizations have service requirements, but it is not required in order to graduate.

As Renu.Uner cites, the optional IB program at PESH has a community service requirement. The optional NHS at all 3 senior highs have one as well, as do some of the smaller groups (Eco Club and the like). But the various levels of HS diploma in PISD have no service requirement.

Ahhh that's right. I was well over 50 and 200 once I got involved with Habitat for Humanity and Dog and Kitty City. I know my boys will be racking up hours soon!

Thanks to all who replied. My 8th grader already has around 40 hours from church volunteer activities and from library volunteering. Hopefully Plano schools ( if we get into one of those programs that need it) will still honor the already accrued hours.

What happens in middle school, stays in middle school. Volunteer hours clock resets itself on first day of junior high.
