My wife went to check out the new Trader Joe's on Lovers this weekend and fell in love. She was able to get most of our groceries there and she said that it was that crowded(surprise!). She did however go to Tom Thumb for our milk as she said it was over priced at TJs.

I have been a couple of times to the new TJs on Lovers - both times in the morning and it wasn't crowded. Nice store - more spacious than most. Great addition to the area.

The Kroger closest to me is a Signature store (not from here, so correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that supposed to their nicer stores or something?) - and its on Belt Line and Marsh.. very ghetto in my opinion. I avoid going there, same thing with the Target next door to it.
I go to the Walmart on Belt Line and Montfort now for frozen things and toiletries, water,etc.. then across the street to Whole Foods for a few things I love there, and finally to Sprouts to get fruits/veggies. Haven't found a place I love for meat - any suggestions? I'm at across the street from the Galleria.

I might drive down to HEB this weekend......I have to see what all the hype is about
I'm surprised being from the DC area you didn't mention the one store that I wish would come to Texas as a whole - Wegmans.

I love HEB though. I remember a few years back we had a gentleman from HEB come into a grad class I had where we were discussing freight rail logistics. He said the reason that there were no HEB's in the DFW area (at the time) was because of the location of their central warehouse (San Antonio-area IIRC). Essentially, north of Waco was about the furthest north they could serve and still make their logistical model work at that time.

Apparently they have long since solved that issue. Hope they'll start expanding in DFW in earnest. Kroger needs some real competition. (Tom Thumb not qualifying as such.)

YESSSSSSSSSSS.. thank you for reminding me! How could I forget Wegmans! Oh man, now I'm wishing I was back in DC just for that place.

If Dallasites knew about Wegmans... oh boy.. forget Kroger/Tom Thumb and anything else, Wegmans has it all beat.

Maybe some day.. Wegmans will expand :/ Until then, I am alternating between Sprouts, TJ's, and Super Target. I really dislike Kroger, and Tom Thumb is wayyyy over priced.

We live in the same area. I go to Central Market for my meats. The one on Preston is smaller and has less variety than the one in Plano on Coit. I prefer the Central Market in Plano. Its worth the trip and I love there selection of meat quality. Albertson meats are good. I buy only Central Market and Albertson meat. Both carry prime meats. Kroger meats are select which are not very good IMO. If I go to wal-mart it is for candy and non food items lol. I usually go to the Target on Montfort. I can't stand wholefoods 365 products.

Living in Florida for a long period of time. I love love love Publix. Central Martket is helping me forget about Publix. In Virginia before they were bought out by Kroger I enjoyed Hannaford.

LOL, there is nothing wrong with the Target on Montfort. Nice workers that are very helpful.

I don't go there anymore since I was accosted by a drug addict in the parking lot. Last time a friend of mine went there, her car was broken into and thousands of dollars in damage was done. I'll stick to the one on Plano Road in Richardson or Coit in FND.
