So, will the local market generate enough jobs (when the Federal Govt is reducing spending)? What residential areas do you think will be most affected? Perhaps that represents a buying opportunity? Please comment.

But would they be buying exactly where all the selling activity will take place?

This is no one-horse factory town. Exxon employees are spread all over North Texas, and the number of new arrivals coming in will certainly offset any exodus of Exxon folk.

What about those moving from Fairfax to Houston? Any views from Virginians regarding this topic?

I'm confused, how many Exxon employees are leaving North Texas? I thought they were consolidating 8,000 (+/-) from their Houston offices and then transferring over 2,000 from Ohio & Virginia with the Headquarters remaining in Irving.

I thought North Texas wasnt going to be affected as much? They will be closing down the entire Downstream Division in Virginia (approx. 2100 employees), so that real estate area will probably be negatively affected with many listings on the market. Dont know about Ohio.

Exxon isnt moving their HQ. The DFW area will have a zero balance.

Even if they do, Exxon only employs about 400-600 people at their HQ. Youre also dealing with one of the most economically diverse metropolitan areas in the US.

So, long story short, nothing really.

Zero impact; this will not be an issue at all. I pretty much agree with others' comments.
