Still looking in the Brinker, Centennial and Barksdale areas, but I'm seeing more homes become available in the Daffron and Hightower elementary areas. What's the pros and cons of each. I know very little about each?

The only con to Daffron is that your kids will have to associate with those who can "only" afford $300K houses. Their feeder system of Robinson/Jasper beats the Renner/Shepton combo in pretty much any metric you care to apply.

Hightower is a bit stickier, because there's a pretty significant apartment population there, leading to what teachers refer to as "mobility issues". That means your kids' classes will always have 3 or 4 new kids who have no clue about what was taught last year. On top of that, their middle school is Frankford, which is a) not all that great by PISD standards, and b) ridiculously inconvenient for that neighborhood (neighborhood is NE chunk of Park/Preston, yet school is located in far north Dallas, off Coit, south of George Bush).

Both schools are highly praised by those whose kids attend there.

Thank you very much. Looked at a great house near Daffron yesterday, but I refused to pay Brinker, Barksdale, Centennial prices ($525k) when there was a not-so-great-looking apartment complex in the middle of the neighborhood.
