I received word that I was accepted into the FT MBA Program. I want to get a head start into looking at places to live. I want a nice place for my wife and I. Somewhere near a park, nice, clean and SAFE.

Fortunately with my Post 9/11 MGIB, I will have monthly housing allowance.

Thanks in Advance!

Was about to answer, but are you talking about UT in Dallas (McCombs School), or UTD (Jindal School)?

Edit: Assuming you're talking about McCombs, I saw on the web that is located at UT Southwestern. The closest locations for apartments would be Oak Lawn, Design District or West Dallas. I think those would be great options.

But just in case you are coming from somewhere more suburban, sometimes people like that would find those areas too "urban" i.e. not good enough as far as the "near a park, nice, clean and SAFE" criteria. In that case, the best bet would be Highland Park... but that would be too expensive for the typical student. The best bet, in that case, would be The Village on Southwestern Blvd. at Greenville. It's a bit farther, but would fit the criteria very well.

Thanks for the reply, but I am sorry that I did not consider the other school.
I am referring to UTD JSOM in Richardson

I seem to be narrowing my search as I go alone with my searches. I recall staying in a townhome and enjoyed my stay without worrying about the neighbors above and below me. Like others have said, I have noticed that by looking for cheap apts it tends to attract the not so pleasant group. I think I will sacrifice more money for peace and safety.

In addition, I seem to be seeking a unit with covered or attached garage for safety from criminals and the harsh weather. Speaking of weather, is weather such hail an issue in DFW?

Anybody has any recommendations?
