Hi guys. Moving to North Dallas soon. That is where I will be working and want to live close to work. I've got a ton of apartments to look at and choose from. However, I have read that a lot of North Dallas apartments are full of young people under 35. Is there any area of North Dallas I should look at for a more mature crowd? Or any area to avoid a ton of young folks? I am also considering renting a house. I don't want to get into buying right now until I decide if I want to stay in Dallas long term.

Where are you going to be working at in North Dallas? North Dallas can be many different areas, and where you work will be a major factor as far as finding a place to live whether it's to rent an apt or a house. One thing you will realize, you don't want caught driving in rush hour traffic.

Welcome to Dallas

I live at Alpha and the Tollway, just East down Alpha, from where you will be working. I work in Addison, and I love the 7-10 minute commute every morning. There are apartments right there near Alpha/Midway called Prairie Crossing, they are behind some retail shops. Check there. If you don't want to live THAT close to work then look just up Midway going North, in Addison. Its a nice area, shopping centers, food choices galore, Walmart, Whole Foods etc etc and a wide range of folks.. from young couples, to older singles, and everything in between. You'll have easy access to the Dallas North Tollway and your commute to work will likely be about 10 minutes.. 15 on a busy morning.

To avoid the congestion disaster of highway 635 (they are rebuilding) I would stay north of your office (i.e. Addison).

Let me know if you need any more info

I've had colleagues rent short-term from Bent Tree Apts. which is a short drive from this area. Couple year's ago the rent started around $800 mth for a small 1 br / studio I believe. Post-Addison in Addison Circle has a lot of apts and studios at the same time started at around $950+ but I have no idea what it is now. Nice area.... I like Addison Circle area, very cool locale.
