Hi!

My husband, two daughters (almost 2&3), and I will be moving to the Frisco/Plano area from Seattle at the end of this year. We are flying out mid June to get a feel for the neighborhoods and where we should be looking for homes.

What are the main differences between Frisco and Plano? Which has the best schools? Our home budget is between 400-500k (over 4,000sqft, two story, pool, etc). Is one city better for mom groups? What gyms are popular (with child care).

Thanks in advance!!

Plano's schools are better than Frisco's, overall.

Where will you/your husband be working?

With your requirement of 4,000 sq ft, you will be closer to your top limit. Things are selling above (and sometimes well above) $100/sq. ft in the nicer areas, so don't be surprised if you have to stay at the top end of your budget. Generally speaking, Plano schools are better. There are lots of families in both, so mom groups should be comparable. But as stated above, job location is important in making recommendations. If work is in Plano, either city would be a manageable commute. If it is downtown Dallas, the closer in you get, the better and cheaper from a toll perspective. Not sure about Frisco gyms, but Plano has Lifetime and most other national chains.

^This. And just make sure you have to take property taxes into consideration because they are higher than most places. Monthly payment for a 500K house would be appreciably higher in Dallas as compared to Seattle.
