I recently accepted a new job in Plano (location close to Shops at Legacy) with a 3 month training period but it's requiring me to train in Plano for 1 month and then train internationally for 2 months before finally returning to Plano to work permanently. Living in an extended stay hotel for the first month will allow me to get to know the area and save on the next two months rent while I'm living abroad before signing a lease on an apartment.

Anyone have recommendations on extended stay / executive hotels where I could live for the first month?

I've read good reviews about Candlewood Suites. Their normal rate is about $53/day but since I'm staying for a full month I might be able to negotiate them down. I need to be either in northern Dallas or Plano (preference is closer to Plano, my office isn't far from Shops at Legacy).

Thank you!

I have a relative living week days in long stay hotels for twelve years. He prefers .Staybridge suites.

Towneplace suites is also an option - less pricey than Residence Inn.

Candlewood = Towneplace Suites.

Staybridge = Residence Inn.

All very close to your work, you can google, all good hotels, you can't go wrong with any, take the one tht offers you the best price.

Thanks for the input! I called around and I was able to book for a decent rate.

@rokone, just curious what hotel did you end up going with and what was the rate? I will be needing to do this in about a month.

When I arrived in Dallas a little over a year ago, I stayed at a Candlewood Suites that worked out fairly well. I ended up staying just over 30 days (which removes sales tax) and think the daily rate was somewhere around $52/night. This was their basic room with a queen bed, studio style (everything was in one area - bed, TV, kitchenette). Not much in the way of frills, but room was recently renovated and comfortable until I found an apartment. There is a laundry area that is free to guests along with wi-fi, but no free breakfast, no pool if that's a concern.

Homewood Suites in Addison is relatively well situated on the north side of the city and includes breakfast, light dinner, and pool. However, looks they run closer to $99/night.

If you want to go cheap, and if your work is near the DART rail, there is a Motel 6 just south of the "High Five" (I-635 @ US 75), in the SW Quadrant of that interchange - between 635 and Forest Lane. The DART station is just a short drive away on Forest just a few hundred yards east of 75.
