Are there any high schools with good ratings in Garland? If not what are the options? The zipcode is 75044.

If your child has an interest in international business, the International Leadership Academy HS is a great option. Study abroad program, college credit and tri-lingual education.

Garland High has an International Baccalaureate program which is an extremely rigorous program. Great program and education.

Read up on Garland schools. The district allows "school of choice" enrollment vs just your neighborhood assigned school....it's a really different set up than the other area districts but appears to work well. Garland has the oldest IB program in the metroplex.

People always mention that, but it's a bit misleading. There are a set amount of spots open for transfers, and it's first come first served. So all the best schools get snapped up real quick, which means there is every possibility that your kid could be stuck in a sub par school (especially South Garland which is crappy) if you dont get a spot in time. Keep that in mind.

That being said, my wife and her two siblings all graduated from Garland High School, one of her siblings went to one of the magnets (I think Kimberlin). She graduated from Columbia Law School and is now a successful lawyer here in Dallas. My wife's other brother graduated from SMU. So it's very possible to be successful in life after Garland ISD.
