I'm trying to get feed back regarding the safety/reputation of this particular location in the oaklawn area. There's a brand new apartment complex (4110 Fairmount) located around the vicinity of
fairmount and knight that i'm seriously considering but being a single female the so called gentrification and urbanization of that area concerns me . I'll rather pay more money to live in a place that I feel relatively safe than go for something cheaper in a sketchy neighborhood.

I live really close to that, so yes I'd live there. I feel safe in the area, but still take precautions and stay alert. Walking around during the day on weekends to grab lunch or a drink on Cedar Springs is really convenient. I even walk down Maple, which a lot of people on here wouldn't

However, I can also understand if someone wouldn't feel safe. There are some older apartments down Throckmorton that look kinda shabby, and that might scare some people away, especially someone not used to the area. My advice is to experience it for yourself and decide if it's right for you

I wouldn't do it. To me, that's the one last sketchy pocket in the Uptown vicinity. I have witnessed some illegal activity driving through that pocket (drugs, mostly) and the neighborhood just on the other side of the Tollroad is downright BAD. There is a housing project a few blocks from this apartment (easily walkable via Maple) and I witnessed a brutal - and seemingly random- assault there a few years ago, just past DNT on Maple. I don't even drive through that stretch anymore, even if if saves time.

Be sure to walk the neighborhood in daytime and at nighttime before signin a lease. I think the fact that you're asking this question means you wanted to know if your gut feeling / concern is valid.

Pay a little bit more to live north of Cedar Springs or east of Oak Lawn.
