I've been to Digestive Health Associates and Texas Digestive Health Consultants. It's test after test and I feel my symptoms are the same with pain and because they see nothing in the bloodwork and scans, they keep telling me I'm ok. I'm not ok but not sure where to turn next. Does anyone know a GI doctor who thinks outside the box and doesn't just send me for more CT scans and bloodwork and if they come back clean, tell me "congratulations, you're ok after all"? I already had a colonoscopy/endoscopy and everyone says inflammation and prescribes a whole bunch of pills, but it's just a band-aid. I know something is wrong but no one will really listen. As you can tell, I'm weary and frustrated. Thanks for any recommendations!!! I'm willing to travel some distance to see the right person who will listen.

I don't have a recommendation for you. Maybe it's IBS? If the tests aren't showing anything, then it's probably not Crohn's/ulcerative colitis/celiac's.

I don't believe in IBS as a final diagnosis, but rather a symptom of something going on, infection, H Pylori, polyps, etc. I know that there's no known cure but I don't think the answer is to ply me with laxatives and anti-spasmodics and call it a day. Basically when a doctor doesn't know what's going with your gut, he says IBS and says "Welcome to your life." I'm not satisfied with that and I don't plan to rely on medications to manage my bowel. If I'm eating clean, there should be a reason why I'm feeling pain and I don't want to "manage" it. I know a few people who were diagnosed with IBS and years later, they were found to have Crohn's, it just didn't present itself in the way doctors were used to, plus they had to go to 4 or 5 doctors to finally get some real answers. That's why I need someone who's willing to run some non-standard tests and approach it in a different way. The typical way isn't getting to the bottom of things.

I adore Dr. S. Duraiswamy at Centennial Med Center. Perhaps you have seen someone else in her group, can't exactly remember the group name. She was recommended by my PCP, another Indian doctor, who I also love (Dr. A. Vyza). Both take new patients and both take Medicare. I have had a colonoscopy and 2 EGDs at Centennial and both were good experiences (The new-to-me Movi Prep is light-years better than the old one!).

Thanks SouthernBelle! I did the MoviPrep too and it was so much better than the solution I used to drink. When I had this done before, I had to drink until I eliminated clear which took FOREVER! This time, they weren't concerned about that and the nausea was much less. I'll check the doctor out - I know at Texas Digestive Consultants, you are stuck with whoever you picked to begin with and I definitely don't want to return to him.

Dr. Rassa Shahidzadeh, MD
4708 Alliance Blvd, Plano
(469) 800-6020

I thought he was good. Did you test for H pylori? I tested positive and Dr Rassa helped me get rid of it.
I feel much better now. I still take Align which is a probiotic that he had recommended to me.
Good luck!

Have you had a celiac disease bloodwork panel? Have you tried gluten free in your diet?

Yes, I have had 2 celiac disease bloodwork panels, one in 2011 and one a few months ago, and they both came back negative. Nevertheless, I've been strictly gluten free since I started the low FODMAP diet 3-4 weeks ago and was mostly gluten free since March. Negative for H Pylori and the 2nd CT scan was negative for any inflammation except for a slightly enlarged liver which for some reason was of no concern to my GI. No stool samples taken at all, just given antibiotics for the acute pain and bloating several weeks ago. Gastritis found and possibly GERD but apart from that, no real explanations of what could be causing the gastritis, chronic pain, weight loss and fatigue.
