Hi Everyone,

We just moved from NYC to Dallas and now in search of a home (currently living with a friend). Work is in Southlake and DFW airport. Our budget is 400 - 600k. We are looking for a good school district, commute, resale value and overall diversity in the neighborhood. Would prefer a new construction but older home is still an option. Lot size around .25 acre would be ideal. Thanks for the help.

Southlake, Colleyville, and Coppell all fit your budget, school, and commute needs well. You won't find NYC-style diversity here (Irish, Russian, multiple Hispanic origins, etc) but there are good number of Indians, people of Eastern Asia origin, Hispanic from Mexico, etc in those suburbs.

Check Flower Mound if you want new construction on 0.25 lot and 3500-4000 sqft home in your price range.

Second the recommendation for Southlake and Colleyville.

Coppell has very high property taxes, and the drive across the top of DFW airport can be a real pain...that drive from FloMo is even worse.

Southlake would be an ideal location if you are okay with an older home. New developments in Southlake are 600k+

For new construction check out both Flower Mound and Coppell. Lakeside community in Flower Mound and Bridges at Las Colinas in Irving (Coppell ISD). The Flower Mound / Coppell new developments are all 15 - 20 mins from Southlake and DFW airport. I have been doing the drive from Westlake (west of Southlake) to Flower Mound (Lakeside) in 25 mins at peak traffic times.

There are larger lots in Colleyville especially, and would start there. However, just west in Keller can get you acreage lots, and Grapevine on the west side also has large and acreage lots.

We like the area of Flower Mound (Lakeside) and now are seriously considering signing on with one of the builders. The commute seems reasonable from the location of the Lakeside homes.

Can anyone give me insight on how long it would take to go from the Lakeside community in Flower Mound (2499 & Lakeside PKWY) to the DFW airport during rush hour? Also to Southlake near the Town center? Thanks for the help.
