Hello everyone I currently live in Grand Prairie, but I am tired of driving to Dallas. I have families in Irving, church in Farmers Branch, chiropractor at Coppell, work at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, so I am tired of driving to and fro, and I love north Dallas!

Well the first question really is... how is the traffic going towards my job from an apartment at Las Colinas/Irving area at around early 6PM (night shifter here)?? I know I35 can get seriously packed and I hope to god I don't hold hands with next cars on the highway due to traffic congestion.

Next question is apartments. I live in quite nice, new apartment at Grand Prairie, and it costs me $690 after water bills and valet trash; you know, not as luxurious as any AMLI or Missions, but still very nice and clean. As stated, my parents live next to 635 close to north mcarthur and I visit them often, so I am really looking into getting an apartment at Las Colinas or Irving (a lot of good apartments next to North Lake College), but also looking at those new apartments built right next to Omni Hotel off of 635 also.

As I am young and single, I am told it's insane to spend big bucks on apartment rents, and I agree. So I shoot for about $650-725 range; I don't want to live in a dump, but I am not spending +$900 for rent either you know I know internet always doesn't give 100% of info, and that's where I depend on you locals for a little advice. Thanks a bunch for your help and Dallas is great!

sorry to disappoint you but you will not be able to find what you are looking for in that price range in Las Colinas especially not close to the Omni Hotel. Your best bet will be to check the North Irving area south of Walnut Hill between 161 and O'Connor. Most of the apartments in that area are well kept and everything you need is in a short drive.

First Question: if you're in Irving, going to Las Colinas for night shift shouldn't be painful -- you're against traffic. If you have to sit on MacArthur or Belt Line with the flow, it'll be slow but steady.

I stayed at Finley Square apartments when I was in grad school -- they're that blessed combination of basic but clean and may work for you, and sitting right on easy access to the conduits mentioned.

They're right. Don't go "house poor" when you're just starting out.

Really? I already looked into many apartments especially around just north of North Lake College and they were all between $600-750. I really like the Knightsbridge apartment, and this was only $730 or so. There were other apartments on kinwest parkway also (just north of where 114 and 161 intersect) and their prices weren't bad at all either (less than $730ish). Now if you mean those apartments by the lake, then yeah the rent will be above $1000.

I work at Dallas, north of Oakliff. Wish my job was in North Dallas.

Why don't you try the commute from your parents' place to work a few times? Have an early dinner at Mom's and then head out to work. I think you can find some apartments around Kinwest in your price range but not in downtown LC. I've sometimes seen people in nice homes in Las Colinas looking to rent out rooms in their houses with full house access. That might also be an option for you.
