We are trying to get a head start for day care once our girl hits 18 months. Preference is for something in North Dallas.

Other absolutes: A place that does not encourage screen time of any kind for kids under three. A strong emphasis on healthy eating. If snacks are allowed between meals, they must be healthy snacks. No goldfish, pretzels, or sugar. No religous institutions.

Sorry I can't offer any advice on specific centers. As a general point I've never heard of a center that allows any screen time for children under 3. By contrast, every single child care center I have ever heard of has snack time for infants and toddlers because it's sort of important for young children with small tummies to be able to eat small amounts several times a day. I would recommend you pack your own snacks daily so you can be sure they meet your standards. Any center should be willing to accommodate this. Good luck!

Certainly ok with snacks. Just want them to be healthy. The first few we visited had all kids above 18 months watching TV or playing on iPads or computers and snack time included capri sun and gold fish. That may have been at the parents requests, not sure but not interested in that.

My children are preschool to elementary age and we have been enrolled at 3 different schools and I have visited at least a dozen, including g a few daycares. I have never seen any that provide Capri sun - all provide water to drink. They all allowed goldfish on some days but offered something else (yogurt, cheese, fruit) to supplement it. In any case - it sounds like you are very particular about snacks (good for you) so you really should bring your own. I guarantee you no school will be as picky as you are. Also - your child may have a say in what she will/won't eat for snack. Don't pick your school based on what they serve for snacks...you are picky so just bring your own. I have no idea where you have found a daycare that allows screen time for toddlers. Never seen this. Skip it and look elsewhere.
