No man, this is Texas. We welcome your guns unless you are a felon.
Put them in the trunk of your car unloaded and drive to Texas. There is a procedure if you fly and I would not let my movers take them.

When you across to the Texas border, put the handgun loaded under the front seat and say 3 Times..... "Don't Mess with Texas"
Your car is the same as your home here.

After you get here get your Concealed Handgun license. It makes life easier and has gotten me out of 3 traffic tickets.

Hunting in Texas may be a bit different than NY as very little land in TX is publicly owned, so you basically have to know somebody in order to do some hunting or pay for access to a hunting lease or guided hunt. You will also need to get hunting/fishing licenses before going for duck, deer, dove, and various other animals.

For handguns there are a fair number of shooting ranges around the metro areas, both indoor and outdoor.

The moving company you will be using might have specific policies regarding guns - better check with them. As others said, driving your car into Texas with guns is not a problem, no registration needed. Flying in with guns is a different story, you will need CHL valid both in NY and TX for that.

Yet another (probably the safest, but most expensive) option is to have them shipped to TX FFL dealer.
