Well I work at Macy's VV. This was totally unexpected. In fact we are still getting new merchandise. Apparently the Dillard's at VV is also closing but hasn't made a formal announcement. Our store management didn't find out till this morning either. Many of us are hoping to go to the Galleria store, as we don't know how longer Willowbend will be there. There sales were lower than ours!

If Dillards goes, VV really will be done. Sounds like your store closing had more to with its proximity to The Galleria more than sales.

The Dallas market has never understood that Macy's has different levels of stores. The Galleria and Northpark are the highest, carrying things like Micheal Kors, Stuart Wiezman, seven jeans..ect... VV was there to cater to the moderate customer, looking for Jones NY, Lauren, Levi's that kinda thing, but people still expected us to have the super high-end too. I imagine that when leases expire at say, Willowbend they are history. On the other hand Macy's owns the VV store and the land it sits on all the way to the freeway.

Wasn't the Macy's in Northpark a Foley's first (before Foley's was bought out)?

I believe so. For a long time I think the Galleria location was the only one in Dallas.

Yes the Galleria was the original, followed by the Stonebriar store. Stonebriar closed in the Foley's take over.

Sad to see it go, but can't say I'm surprised. Macy's and Dillard's are both too high-end for VV now. That place has turned into such a dump.

Yes, the Macys at NorthPark was infact a Foleys. Before, that space was occupied by JCPenney. JCP closed, the building was demolished, rebuilt, Foleys then moved from Preston Center, then became Macys.
