Wow, that's totally not true!

I agree with your primary point that epidemiologically it is relatively inefficient.
And the outbreak has been ongoing for 10 months, and it hasn't been limited solely to sparsely populated areas. AND it can be transmitted by survivors for several weeks after infection as well, and this variation has about a 40-50% mortality rate rather than 90%, so if anything it should be spread more easily than prior cases. And yet, in spite of things like that (and quarantine centers being actually attacked and destroyed, with symptomatic patients and their clothing and bedding being removed by people with no protective gear), there have been ~3,500 reported cases in Liberia, which even if we multiply by a factor of 5 would be under 18K in a country of 4 million people. If this were a flu with the medical practices (or lack thereof) in place there, I shudder to think what the numbers would be.

To the extent I'm worried about any disease, the enterovirus outbreak bothers me much more than Ebola, overwrought news stories notwithstanding. My chances of dying in a car accident are far far FAR greater than that of contracting Ebola (especially given the way people in Dallas drive. I saw one genius using the shoulder as her own personal lane this morning).

Flights are normal today. No closures or cancellations due to Ebola.

And of course all of us are going to die one day. Using that "logic" why don't I just cut to the chase and go shoot myself in the head? I mean, we're all going to die anyway, right? But personally, I'd rather die at a later date and without all the Ebola drama.

All joking aside, that while concerning I do think this is being blown out of proportion but I promise that if I'm wrong and in a few months I find myself wrapping my house in duct tape and saran wrap I'll come back to this thread and y'all can beat me full sore.

Well, the 50-75% of you that are still alive at that point can attack me.

The school kids getting exposed is definite turn in the wrong direction - kids tend to pass these things on much more often than adults. OTOH, 'exposed' does not mean 'transferred to', so hopefully it is contained.
