I am moving to Dallas from FL this month. My office is in Dallas downtown (Bryan St - 75201).

Search
Uptown Dallas , and/or Oaklawn. There's a DART at CityPlace, across US 75 from Uptown, Oak Lawn has bus routes to CityPlace. You can google
DART maps , the RED line.
Also check out the Mockingbird Station area, just north of CityPlace.

You might also look into Deep Ellum, just east of downtown. There are 2 DART stops in Deep Ellum. It's a bit cheaper and less slick than Uptown (which is northwest of downtown), and has a funkier vibe with lots of bars, music clubs, galleries and restaurants. There are also some options now in downtown itself. If you check out the links below, it will give you some idea.

I second Uptown. Lots of shopping, restaurants, etc, and is very safe. And you are close to the AT&T performing arts center, etc, with the AACenter just west of downtown with its concerts, etc.

Thanks to all of you for the above guidance. I searched for 2BR apartments on the above mentioned locations but its out of my budget. Looks like I will have to search for a place which might be little far from office. May be 30-45min commute distance via Dart. Please provide any guidance.
