That's a really open ended question, but I'm in my 20s and enjoy living here.

If you want to party and have fun, move to Austin or Houston. If you want to focus on your career, then move to Dallas. I moved here for a job, and I literally hate it (the city... not my job. Job's awesome), but my wife's from here, so I have to deal w/ it.

It's gonna be about what you value. DFW is more-or-less a business hub. Not the most exciting place to live, but the COL is still reasonably cheap and jobs are plenty.

Excellent area for a 20 something male with prospects.

All the 20 something females with prospects from Northeast Texas congregate in Dallas for a few years, then they move back home with their new husbands to start a family. That's right, you're on the fast track to having six kids in Tyler or Wichita Falls.

Seriously, if you are gainfully employed as a reasonably attractive and intelligent young man, Dallas is about as good as any place in the U.S.

Why do you hate it?

I'm from Houston. Houston had a great night life. Main St. And Washington Ave were always the place to be every weekend. The people are also a lot more friendly. Dallas is just boring. I mean just google "Why is Dallas so..." And see what you get. The nightlife doesn't really exist. The people aren't too friendly. The ones who are that I've run into, are not from here. I run into quite a few people who feel like me, since we're only here for jobs. I don't want to bag on the city, but it's just honestly boring. And u have to pay tolls to go almost everywhere, the price of apartments and housing is going up fast, it's not as diverse as the other cities I've mentioned then my inlaws are here... but that's a personal issue lol. There are way better restaurants in Dallas and Austin.

As far as jobs go, there are a lot of them, and they pay well. At this point in my life, if I want to have fun, I just take a vacation somewhere else. But when I was 20. No way I'd move here. This is just my experience and a few of my colleagues who feel like me.

Dallas in your 20s? Could be real good.

A lot of it depends on you.

First off, live in Uptown or The Village. You need to be in the urban core if you are a single male.

Your life will be better if you have hobbies besides going to bars on McKinney. You can find people through your hobbies. There are social opportunities here. It is a pretty typical big city experience, and the Texas economy is one of the better economies in the US.

I have not met a 20 something woman in Dallas that fits that description. Care to elaborate on where this type hangs out?
