Speaking of winterizing, should I place down Fertilizer to prepare for the winter months and prevent weeds from growing next season?

Sure. I did about 2 weeks ago.

The proper time to apply broadleaf weed preventer, like HAlts or Dimension, is the first week of September. So, you've missed the window. You can fertilize with a primarily nitrogen one now, although a trifle late.

Hi. I just moved into my first house. Keller , TX. We have a natural well providing water to the automatic sprinkler system.
I've read in many places I should drain and shut off the well pump and sprinkler system and forget about it till winter is gone.

On the other side, I found many places where they recommend turning sprinkler on once every other week to maintain the foundations of the house properly.

Should I turn the pump, sprinklers on , runa a cycle, then drain everything again? once every other week?
Thanks

No need to drain your system. Our weather is warm enough where our ground does not freeze.

I still use my sprinkler through out the winter about once every 7-10 days if we do not get rain.

going dormant means the root system is still alive--it is just not growing--mainiy because the temps are cooler and there is less daylight to stimulate new growth...but drought in winter can stunt root systems--just as intense cold can damage it.
We continue to water -- my husband just restricts the amount of time they run
