Amazing that this can happen without the thieves alerting the homeowners or neighbors. Lakewood area friends, park your cars in the garage if possible:

Stealing the wheels and tires as happened would be a lot easier and probably a more quiet than dismounting the tires. That really sucks.

This has been happening for years. Certain vehicles have wheels that are easy to steal; Chevy and GM, I think. If you own these vehicles, you need wheel locks or whatever they are called - if you park in your driveway or street.

This happened once on my street, and it was a GM pickup. Yet another reason to put your car in the garage!

I had the liftgate and cat/DPF exhaust assembly stolen from my truck parked on the street outside my house in East Dallas. The liftgate took the thieves all of 10 seconds to steal. The Cat/DPF only needed a couple of bolts to be undone.

Cost to my insurance company: $6500.

This happened to a friend's Escalade at night on Normandy in University Park. They love stealing rims or even center caps from Escalades, Denalis, etc.

Definitely best to buy the locking lug nuts! If the tires are left on the car, this can cause a serious accident. Happens all over Dallas...

Ironically, that same week (maybe even same night) the same thing happened on the 6100 block of Kenwood (M-streets). Exactly the same vehicle as well, just a different color. Scary.

This would be a problem if they start hitting apartments, where all cars are left out in the open!
