First my family is relocating to Dallas in a few months...
I'm clueless...
Which neighborhoods are best for family that isn't too "back road country" and to "hood".
We're looking to rent a house and looking for at least a two bed room I have my own appliances so I need w/d hook ups and a two month old so I want to be safe... No more than $1000 monthly where do I look? Must also have parking and I need this place to be clean.

Where will you be commuting to for work? DFW is HUGE and there are good areas all over the metroplex, but you don't want to have a horribly long commute.

$1000 will get you an apartment in a good, safe neighborhood. You'll be hard-pressed to find a house for that little.

But, as ChristieP said, we need to know where you're commuting to and how long - in minutes- you want to drive each direction. There are some "hood" neighborhoods as you say (and they tend to be cheap, so be aware of their locations), but Dallas is a major metro area so I'm not sure of these "back road country" areas you mentioned.....you have to get pretty far out from Dallas to find anything resembling the country.

You need to focus on where you will be working and your commute as that will influence which neighborhoods / community clusters to consider. Many people tend to work / live in or near their community cluster. N. Dallas area you need to look at the major East-West road / hwy corridors (635 / 190 / 121) And just because the map looks like a straight-shot from point A to B, etc.; you have to factor in rush hour / time-of-day, etc.

I agree that $1,000 house rental will be tough to find given the boom that DFW is experiencing. Check Zillow or Trulia websites for rentals. Also Zillow has good interactive mapping features that allow you to isolate searches in a given zipcode.

Good luck.

Count on 2-3 minutes per mile in rush-hour traffic. 20 miles = 40-60 min.

OP, we almost always ask where you will be working. As others have said, the Metroplex is HUGE (larger in area than Rhode Island and Connecticut combined). For us to give you the best suggestions, please give us the general area of your employment. We want to help.
