I miss my HEB in Austin....I've heard they purchased several acres of land in the DFW area, so maybe there's hope after all.

I heard that as well but it has been a while since I've heard anything further about it. The closest ones are just too far.. but I do love stopping when I'm in Houston

Although I now have fond memories of it, when I lived in Uptown, I was never a fan of the Albertson's; when the Krogers opened up, I started going there, instead.

Personally, I would like to see the Albertsons (Minyards) closed down and torn down, and new walkable format apartments built there, with retail on the ground floor....like you see with the new Whole Foods down the street.

So far so good. Big improvement with uncluttered aisles, clean and bright. The employees seem to be much happier also. Hope that quality of food goes up.

I went in to Minyard's off Marsh lane. You can tell they are in transition.

They still have the Albertson's inventory of labels. You can see the Albertson's labels on the baked goods and meat. A tiny Minyard's sticker was placed over the Albertson's name.

I don't expect to see Albertsons labeled items there for long. Employees were nice.

Minyard signs going up; Starbucks will be replaced with Peet’s Coffee | Dallas Morning News

Quote:
Starbucks locations inside six of the stores have been removed, including Uptown and will be replaced with Peet’s Coffee & Tea, he said. Baristas have been temporarily assigned to other jobs. It could take up to 10 weeks before the new shops are built and open.

“We begged and pleaded with Starbucks to stay, but they wouldn’t; said we weren’t a big enough company,” Davidson said. “We had some high volume locations and we asked to be given a six-month chance.”

I buy Peet's coffee for home.. and I love it. I actually love it better than Starbucks, so I am excited about this change! Starbucks is overrated IMO, Peet's tastes better, as does Seattles Best, and Caribou

Starbucks and Seattle Best are essentially the same company. Seattle's Best is a wholly owned subsidy of Starbucks. I think you might be better off with Peet's Coffee.
