Im just curious how Prosper ended up taking students from Frisco, Mckinney, and Celina.
It seems it will overwhelm the school system eventually. People go to Prosper for area and school, but how can Prosper afford to take in all these other cities students.

School district boundaries are totally independent of city boundaries. Prosper ISD is much larger than the town of Prosper. Most of these boundaries were established a hundred years ago and are based off landmarks that no longer exist.

The students in Frisco, McKinney and Celina are with Prosper ISD. Some districts do have open enrollment and allow students from other districts to enroll in their school. The schools that allow open enrollment collect the ADA (Average Daily Allowance) for students that attend their schools but live elsewhere. Public schools are also allowed to charge an additional tuition.

I see your point...Prosper ISD extends far out of Prosper.Houses located within Prosper ISD in Frisco,Celina and Mc Kinney may very well be on small lots.Living within Prosper ISD has nothing to do with living in Prosper itself. In the actual town of Prosper, the lot sizes are a minimum of a quarter acre with the exception of patio homes. That is simply not the case in Frisco. That is fine, but I imagine like myself, someone who is house hunting would clearly prefer Frisco over Prosper or vice versa.Other than being geographically located near each other Frisco and Prosper are not comparable. If someone were to actually drive deep into the majority of neighborhoods in both areas I would imagine that an imediete compariaon would not come to mind.Prosper and Flower Mound, maybe Colleyville yes.Frisco and Mc Kinney are comparable when driving around.

You can find 45,000 projection in any future plan but here you go ... page 6

That link is to the 2014 report.

Here is the 2015 report. The numbers have gone up.

Now they are predicting:

20-25 Elementary Schools
11-14 Middle Schools
6-8 High Schools (maintaining the 5A model)

If I recall they did their own demography (based off Frisco numbers) for a few years. Hopefully they hired a professional demographer.

I'm at Prosper High School now. it's very much like McKinney Boyd. Prosper High is a much larger building than Lovejoy and the Frisco High Schools which are built to hold around 2100. This campus can hold 3000-3500 without additions.
