I'm planning on moving to Dallas Texas and I want to know what are the best affordable living safe places and multicultural? I'm African American and I know their are still some racism there.

There are racist everywhere. You may actually find the DFW area to be more accepting than you think.

I think Oaklawn is pretty darn multi-cultural. It is considered part of the gay community, but hey, gays are likely less prejudiced than the rest of us. It is in the heart of the city, good places to eat, etc.

Big picture, I would not say that Dallas is an overly racist city. I have certainly raised my kids to try to be color blind and I think most of the people have very similar attitudes.

Not all racists are white, and not all whites are racist. You will likely not have any problems with racism here.

Live close to where you work. The DFW aa, and Dallas itself, are HUGE and commutes here can be very lengthy.

Being a minority, I don't think it is any different from many other major cities. People are not on your face racist. However, closet racists are abundant just like other places such as senior/ executive management in companies. People in the neighborhoods are seggregated based on it as well but not alarming proportion.

^^^^This. Dallas in 2015 looks a lot different than the JR Ewing Dallas from the 1980's. Unless you're in a small town out in the sticks, you don't really have to worry about racism in the DFW area. You might come across the occasional *******, but that's not the norm. Over 50% of the Dallas & northern suburb population wasn't born in Texas and 20% weren't even born in the US (large Mexican, Indian, Korean, African, etc populations).

Most important questions you need to answer so we can give you advice:
1. Where is your office? Major intersection or zip code will suffice
2. How long in minutes do you want to commute?
3. What is your budget and what do you expect to rent/buy for that ?
