I think it is different - barking dogs can have very startling, annoying, blood-pressure and pulse raising consequences. At least music is pleasant/enjoyable, even if slightly loud. No one ever puts dog barking audio on their iPods.

Barking dogs can create health and other problems for some people. I am one, and cannot live near them, which severely limits the places I can live. If you are bothered by barking dogs, or other intrusive percussive noises, you are not alone. See the article "Why Exposure to Chronic Barking is So Profoundly Debilitating". This website also explains why some people can "just ignore it", while others can not.

Barking dogs impact the nervous system to trigger stress & emotional upset

found a great home in Wylie with a next door neighbor whose dog barks incessantly - my Chug will be right at home with that ending barking next door. Got to say, Dallas has the best dog parks I've experienced anywhere! No regrets.
