It sounds like Knox/Henderson may be better suited for me than Uptown, I will work on targeting apartments in that area instead.
OtM7, just to help define...

Uptown is a loosely regarded area along McKinney Ave, from near downtown up to near Highland Park. Check a google map for McKinney Ave, running between Turtle Creek (it is a creek) and US75. There is no real need to distinguish Uptown from Knox/Henderson, the difference being roughly 4000'. An area called State/Thomas is at the southern end, Knox/Henderson the northern end. My google map shows Knox on the west side of US75. The entire strip is fairly adult, lively, very upscale, and professional and would be suitable to your requirements.

I'd recommend Las Colinas - young crowd, diverse community, a lot good eats. They have a community around Lake Carolyn it's got a European feel to it. Lots of business offices also including Oracle, Micorsoft, Accenture etc. You'll find a fantastic place with that price range - it's pretty central to a lot of key Dallas spots 20 mins from Plano, Dallas Downtown etc.
