I'm 23 & a native of Fort Worth Texas but have been living in Irving, TX for a hot minute. I am actually looking to relocate further out into Dallas but can't decide what part of Dallas I want to be in. I do have some main areas I am looking at: Cedar Hill, Mesquite, Desoto, Duncanville, Plano & Richardson...My job that I'm starting in May is in Richardson but I'm fixing my credit right now so I'm limited as to where I can go, but I'm giving myself about 6 months to get everything situated and then I'm planning on moving by late October early November..If anyone could, give some insight as to out of the 6 places I've listed which one would you highly recommend & if any list the pros & cons..I'm looking for somewhere that's also family friendly because I have a one year old son. The place I move to is the place I plan to be in for a while so of course I'll need the best school district too..Thanks in advance!!!

PERSONALLY, I think Plano and Richardson are your best bets. Both could be within minutes of your job, where as Cedar Hill, Desoto and Duncanville could be 30+ minute commutes each way to work. On top of that, Richardson and Plano school out preform as a whole the others on your list. Good luck OP!

Take all except Plano and Richardson off your list. The commutes from those towns would be very long!

You might also look at Garland. The northern part of the city has homes and apartments in many price ranges.

Single and 23 would put me either in Addison, or the Austin Ranch Apts in The Colony, which is essentially West Plano. Either of these areas are filled with young singles.

Richardson and Plano are the only two suburbs on your list that make any logical sense given your job location. They are also safe and family friendly.

It's no knock on the southern suburbs like Cedar Hill, but living there would cause an unnecessarily long and expensive commute.

As others have stated, Plano and Richardson are your best bets. Can't go wrong with either one.

Stay in Richardson, if you have a toddler then a long commute isn't a good idea. Richardson isn't cheap but some parts are very affordable.

Good point. Scratch that

Adding a child into the mix than would make me lean towards West Plano if you have to stay in the Dallas area.

I agree with the everyone else, stick to the Plano/Richardson area for a shorter commute and staying closer to your son. There are nice neighborhoods and decent schools in the southern suburbs, but if your son gets sick or needs you for anything, sitting in gridlocked traffic for close to an hour would be gruelling.
